Name Days Are Just as Important as Birthdays in Poland

In Poland, name days (imieniny) are often celebrated with as much enthusiasm as birthdays. Each day of the year is associated with the Catholic calendar of saints, so people celebrate their name day on the day of the saint they were named after.
When using public transport in Poland, look for signs showing who’s name day it is. It’s very popular for trams and buses to display this.

Poland has a desert called the “Polish Sahara”

Surprisingly, Poland is home to the largest natural desert in Central Europe. The desert, known as the Błędowska Desert, stretches for approximately 32 square kilometres.It was formed during the last Ice Age and later expanded due to human activities like deforestation and mining.

Poland is home to the world’s biggest castle

Poland boasts the largest castle in the world by land area, the Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork.
Constructed in the 13th century as a fortress and headquarters for the Teutonic Knights, this expansive castle is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our wedding venue,  Cegielnia is located in Rzucewo (5 km east of Puck City and 38 km north of Gdańsk), on the cliff with a beautiful view on the Baltic Sea. It is a quiet and picturesque village in the middle of nowhere – we’re stunned to announce you’re stuck with us for couple of days.

Our wedding takes some effort to get to – and we are incredibly thankful for everyone making the trek! The good news is that your trip will take you to a captivating area known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and scenic beauty. Highly recommending staying at least for a longer weekend!

Logistics

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) → ca. 1h to the wedding venue by car.

From Gdańsk, you can either take the train or drive. While we recommend renting a car convenience during your stay, options like Uber, Bolt, taxis and other on-demand options work perfectly fine. Renting a car is quite affordable if you make the reservation a few days in advance.

We are happy to assist in coordinating in advance.
